The process of some molecules sorbtion by PVA-PAAN intrapolymer complexes
and the possibility of design of polymer  sensors with optical response

Sorbtion of some impurities from aqueous solutions by polymer
complex PVA-PAAN was studied by means of optical methods. Periodical
oscillations of PVA-PAAN film optical density in the course
of phenol sorption were observed in some cases. This fact has been
explained as a consequence of layer-by-layer dissolution of polymer
film in water in the presence of absorbed phenol molecules. The polymer
complex PVA-PAAN is proposed to be used as a sensor with optical
response for presence impurities in water.
