Sensing elements have been produced by deposition of Langmuir-Blodgett
molecular films of sodium stearate (CH3(CH2)17COONa)
onto glass, ceramic or piezoelectric substrates. Changes of the element
ohmic resistance and capacity have been investigated in water, ammonia,
benzene, isopropyl alcohol and acetic acid vapor atmospheres. The
investigation results have revealed a high stability and reproducibility
of these characteristics, as well as the relatively fast recovery
of the sensor operation ability at room temperature.
