The process of rhenium electrochemical deposition from fluorine-containing electrolytes has been investigated. The light-coloured metal rhenium coating electrodeposition rate has been found to be 3-4 times higher than that in known sulfate electrolytes. The thickness of coatings obtained during one electrodeposition-annealing cycle is 3-5 mum, while that for sulfate electrolytes, 1-2 mum. Coatings can be deposited onto copper, kovar, molybdenum, stainless steel, and other substrates. It is possible to obtain black rhenium coatings of oxide-hydroxide type exhibiting high a light absorption coefficient (96-97 %). Those can be used as antiemission coatings.
