Abstract:

The two types of oxide coatings were obtained on the aluminum alloy AK7 using the method of microplasma oxidation. The phase composition of the first type of the coating contains 25 % of corundum (Al2O3-α), the second type of the corundum-free coating includes 78 % of Al2O3-η. It was established that the microhardness of Al2O3-α-containing coatings is increased by a factor of 1.3 through to 1.5 in comparison to that of Al2O3-η-containing coatings. The oxide coating containing α-phase shows the increase in the cavitation resistance by a factor of 1.45 through to 1.54 in comparison to that of the coating with η phase. The abrasion wear rate is 13 times lower for Al2O3-α in comparison to that for Al2O3-η. The early corrosion dissolution potential is 1.2 times higher for Al2O3-α in comparison to that of Al2O3-η.
