Polymer composite materials based on a mixture of recycled polyolefins and polystyrene plastics
National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytehnic Institute”, 2 Kyrpychova str., 61002 Kharkiv, Ukraine
A series of investigations of the polymer composite materials (PCM) based on recycled polyolefins and polystyrene plastics in different polyolefins-to-polystyrene plastics ratios is presented. The specific features of the interaction of recycled polyolefins and polystyrene plastics were established relating to the change in chemical structure and polarity during aging. It is shown that the presence of oxidized functional groups contributes to an increased thermodynamic affinity of PCM components and improved operational and strength properties during the aging process. The effect of various modifiers on the PCM properties has been investigated. A wide range of PCM compositions was studied to identify the contribution of each component to the PCM properties and the specificity of their interaction. It has been established that the best results are achieved by combining modifiers of different functional purposes.
