Thermodynamic probability
of carbon incorporation into crystals grown in graphite crucibles is considered
taking melted and crystalline ZnSe and CdSe by way of isobaric-isothermal
potentials calculation for a system of equations of supposed reactions
between the salts and solid and gaseous carbon. The possibility of carbon
incorporation due to its interaction with Se and Se2. Chemical
processes resulting in a potential formation of selenium carbides acting
as carbon transporting agents in a temperature gradient have been revealed.
Carbon content in ZnSe crystals has been determined by direct chemical
analysis as well as using the carbon concentrating by way of acid treatment.
